Flying more than 3000 miles from traditional nesting areas in the North Sibirian tundra thousand of Lesser Snow Geese spend more than half the year on their migration to warmer wintering areas like the Fraser River Delta.

I had already decided in 2009 when we saw these geese on Westham Island for the first time to set up a special gallery dedicated to them.

This year there were hunting activities at the Reifel Bird Refuge driving the geese away so we had to find them elsewhere. Iona Beach Island turned out to be a good spot and together with my friends Paul and Dave, who took me there, we were able to work with these creatures on the beach at sunset.
