This photo gallery is dedicated to the Calliope Hummingbird which is the smallest breeding bird found in Canada. It is the only member of the Stellula genus which means "little star". The bird was named after the Greek muse Calliope and it is only 8 cm long.
Wanting to take a break from the hummingbirds, i was kept busy with chicks of the American Robin and the Spotted Sandpiper.
These pictures were taken at on private property in the Robert Lake area of Kelowna, BC in Summer 2010.
